Camping at the Hot Tubs!We try to move at a sensible pace and tailor activities to match the fitness level of our guests, still, please approach this trip as an athletic event and prepare accordingly. Please show up well rested, hyper-hydrated, well fed, gear ready, eager to learn and ready to have fun!
Allow 6-7 hours to drive from the Bay Area, 8 hours from L.A. We will facilitate car pooling, and we encourage you to not drive half the night to get there! Friday evening/night we will meet at the Buckeye Campground East of Bridgeport off of the Twin Lakes Road. If you do not make it Friday night you can meet us Saturday morning at 9:00 am at the Nicelys restaurant in the town of Lee Vining. (We will have already had breakfast in Camp, so be ready to go!)
Saturday, Sunday and Monday will be spent doing different backcountry tours. There are many possible objectives and depending on ability levels we may descend Mt. Dana and/or do an incredible tour through the Gaylor Lakes region. During the tours we will work on technique improvement, avalanche awareness, snow shelters, route selection, etc. and do many turns and have an awesome time! The highway is only open to the East, so from the road end we will have wild winter wilderness. We will go to where the conditions are best and the angles appropriate for our abilities. We have guided wonderful trips that included professional "big air" snowboarders, ten year old beginners and dancers who had never slid on snow. We divide up into ability/energy level groupings and there is perfect terrain and objectives for all!
Monday we should finish by 4:00 pm.
Cost: $350 Includes food and group equipment
